I think it's all our moral responsibility to start one up here!! :-P

does anyone think the police would be so silly to go as far as something like "obstructing the course of justice" for warning people of spped-traps via large cardboard signs???

I have a friend who has a friend who would be well up for anything like this (and hunting down gatsos with a paintball gun!!)

I seem to recall a case (maybe a couple of years ago) where someone was prosecuted for exactly that.

I cant remember the outcome off the top of my head however.

Surely you wouldn't say its a camera, merely that its an enforced accident black spot so be careful as its a dangerous bit of road.

Considering most camera area's are signposted as having camera's, I can't see it as being a problem. After all your, sorry your mates mate, is only acting for the public good and informing of the need to slow down (and not kill all the ickle babies crawling across the road).

Anyway if its all right for vigilante nimby codgers to operate speed camera's then the opposite must also be ok.

It's criminal damage, but I doubt whether the people who bought the camera would object, so I couldn't possibly condemn the vandals.

I said that on another forum.

Nice chappie replied thus :

"I hope you die in a car crash, you filthy little criminal"

We have a formidable opposition, don't you think....?

Yes they would and have done.

Although, as has already been said, camera areas should already be signed and you would only be warning people to slow down 'cos it's dangerous. However, the police seem to think that you are perverting the course of justice or something. Anyone would think they want to catch people speeding rather than getting them to slow down (which is of course the stated aim).
