HOORAY FOR PISTONHEADS.

11.45pm last night, I was heading back from Norfolk on the A11 in the 328i. I was, as they say "pushing along."

I look in the rear view and spot a pair of Xenon's in the distance.

I back off.

The Snooper goes nuts.

Silver Police 540i Jam Sandwich spec.

He pulls me over. The Snooper goes under the seat sharpish.

Fvcked.

He leans in, and asks me how fast I thought I was going.

Bowels evacuate.

I say the usual, very sorry blah........ tired blah.. want to get home...... blah.... about 90 ish.............. blah.......

He says, "At least ninety, mate. BUT it's quiet, and you could have gone a lot faster than that if you'd tried. Take it easy OK?"

Nice one.

Then the moment whcih means I owe Ted pies for the next 50 years.

He clocks the Pistonheads sticker above the tax disc.

"Great site.... I'm on there all the time at work. Got a Griff 500 meself. Take care pal......"

If you're out there, good work fella.

GOD BLESS PISTONHEADS..... :

Looks like there are more reasonable policemen out there, than the cliche implies.

The human face of policing.

And a Griffer, too!

You've only got about seven lives left!

You are clearly forgetting that safety cameras actually save lives - according to statistics and our wonderful governing classes, our friend doesn't. He's just a number, an accountant's overhead or a triviality in the matter

(that's it - my cynical-meter has just been jammed on high for the rest of the day.....!)

Believe me I'll be easing off - I might not get someone so reasonable next time.

To that extent, he has had the deterrent effect.

Spooky!
Sounds like one of those "I picked up a hitch hiker who turned out to be a ghost" stories!

Hmmm, it's not **999**, as from his profile he has a Cerbie.

Well done that BiB, hopefully there will be more of you, and less of those pure money generating control-freaking Gatsos

THATS policing. Not that he got off but the fact he recongnises what happened and will slow down as a result.

On a similar note about human police officers, my mate was giving myself and my girlie a lift home last night, went past a Panda car which then followed us, pulled us and a young lady officer got out. She was v friendly and had a good laugh and a joke with my mate. Apparently 3 young lads had been reported driving erratically thru town, and as my mate is 22 and drives a BMW 320i, she thought it best to pull him over for a chat.

She was very nice tho, and just checked his license before wishing us on our merry way. V refreshing.

The BiB probably will not wish to be identified on this or any other forum so take it as a nice turn of luck and bear in mind his words.

But a shame that a level headed individual cannot be identified ! what a country we've got ! can't even praise the people who need it most.

Ah well. If the man is reading, he *knows* he did a good thing. That is worthy of respect.
