Please let me know if this has been covered before.

If you park illegally and the lorry comes along to take your car away, and you come back to your car just as they are picking it up, is there a clearly defined point where they have to stop what they are doing and give you your car back? Or do they have the right to continue loading it onto the lorry, regardless at which point you turned up?

Doe anybody out there know what the law says on this one. Any BiB or lawyers know the answer?

This would be better in SP&L but I do know they can't load it if someone is onboard.

I reckon if you get the door open they'd have to stop. Health and safety eh? What a bugger.

or an animal. Best bet is to jump in if you can and they haven't started to lift it.

I think that you can stop them up until the wheels leave the ground. Once it's lifted, it's lifted.

Don't matter if the car is strapped to the back of the truck already - it can't be driven away if the vehicle is occupied. Jump in and be difficult.

This reminds me of when I parked in Soho for a job interview over 20 years ago.

The interview took longer than I expected, and when I came out, the police were getting ready to lift my car onto a tow truck. I did not have to pay anything to drive away, apart from parking ticket, so I was lucky I guess

I know of a car that was un-chained and driven off a flat-bed from it's non-raides position, some 5ft off the ground. Buggered the suspension up, but that guy didn't wan this car impounded for some reason. Tow man wasn't bothered. Said he made his money by getting on the truck. What happened to it afterwards wasn't his problem.
