Oncoming traffic car
Discussion
Yes this is an acceptable method of speed detection under VASCAR.
If I remember correctly:
Plod.....>> sights .......<< ..oncoming car at reference point. Time switch on.
(P) ....>>I<<...(OC) at point of passing each other Time switch off/Distance switch on.
...<<.(OC)..............(P)>> Distance off at reference point oncoming first seen.
Vascar now has time and distance oncoming travelled and average speed computed.
Hasty about turn by Plod and another one in the book.

Yes I can see that being used, but the accuracy must be very crude indeed.

Oh I could easily have been done by that method a few months ago. Late evening, SC road, me at just under the century, three cars going the other way, last of which was Plod. I like to think he took the view - "Oh it's that pillock from Whitby - he's no problem though - we'll not bother." Thanks chaps, splendid attitude, that'll do for me.
Best wishes all,
Dave.

Hi guys, was exceeding the speed limit on a dual carriageway this morning, when isee a traffic car coming the other way. Has anyone been prosecuted by this process using the in car speed recorder?? There was a barrier dividing the lanes
Cheers guys
Cheers guys
Does your paranoia manifest itself on other ways too?

Wouldn't parallax make this an extremely innacurate reading for a court appearance? And if you jam the anchors on (safely, of course) you could lower the average quite a lot. Over what distance does a VASCAR reading need to be taken?

Of course it does, it's an absolutely outrageous and totally inaccurate abuse of the equipment.
No slur on you DVD because the manufacturers actually endorse this procedure; but they would, wouldn't they!
