Hi there,

I currently own and use a Snooper SD815iS, but have recently received a speeding ticket from a mobile camera while passing through Wales on the A548 Prestatyn Road. Gutted.

While it does beep for speed traps, it also beeps at just about anything and everything on or near the road, resulting in that after a while it frequently becomes ignored, especially in built up areas like the one where I was caught.

Can anyone recommend a detector which gives comprehensive guidance both for mobile cameras and static, without any false alarms, that can be permantantly switched on by interior grill mounting, (and what's the best price and place to buy it from?)

Many thanks,

Joel K

I can recommend The GPS based Road Angel - lots of previous discussion on here (do a Search Threads), and check out the reviews in the PH review section. Plus you have an opportunity to get in on a group buy to get an advantageous price. (See thread below started by Pigme).

If you want something that combines GPS and Radar/Laser detection, the Snooper S6-R is generating lots of interest. Again, worth searching threads for more.

If you live in wales a laser blinder is the only way. even if you get a detector that can pick up radar it will be too late to slow down by the time they have got your speed.

www.snooper.co.uk is a good place to start (i own the sld920 laser blinder)

I agree with Soulpatch - laser devices are becoming much more commonplace nowadays and are much more difficult to spot than speed cameras. The Welsh police use them in their Arrive Penalised vans to the exception of just about anything else.

Sorry, it has to be asked .

What were you doing speeding in a built up area?

Can't offer any advice on detectors though as I don't bother due to practically every owner saying the same as you. IE they start to ignore it after a while due to the number of false alarms.
