No provision (as yet) for service of a summons in UK for a speeding offence in France and Extradition Act only applies for 'heavy' offences.

I would however be on guard if you take the same motor over there again. One never knows what records they keep?

They will send it to you in GB thanks to bLIARS stasi...whether or not you choose to pay it is another question, but don't use that car another time in F! They might well stop you if you fly in, as bLIARS stasi will have given them your name.....

I got flashed between Tours and Chalons three years ago doing 240 km/h and never heard anything. I drove plenty in France in the same car that year and was unmolested by the gendarmes.

Things have got stricter now and I keep to 160.

I got flashed near a bridge in a 90kph zone. Doing about 130kph.

Heard nothing for 3 months, but off to France tomorrow so if I get nabbed then I'll let you know!

I got a couple of flashes a couple of weeks ago, unremarkable speeds though. I'll report if anything turns up.

Unlikely you'll hear anything, but if you do just ignore it and nothing further will happen.
If you were doing really high speeds it would be avisable not to go to France in the same car for a while.

Under what laws can they give the french your details? I smell bullsh9t here. AFAIK there is only co-operation between French/swiss/luxembourg govts regarding the enforcement of speeding.

Don't know about to France, but for at least three years the DVLA has given RK's details to Belgium on request.

You get a letter in the mail from the Belgian authority. It lists the details of the offence and the fine due.
If you pay the fine you'll hear no more about it.

They don't care who was driving.

I got flashed in France after Le Mans last year, about 90mph on a 90kph bit of dual carriageway. Never heard anything. Good thing my car was suffering from a misfire at the time as I had some French guy in an M3 with me who wanted a race and it could easily have been 190kph (he got flashed too).

For example, quoted here, Kent police willingly give France info, as do RedKens interfereing maniacs. There is no agreement in law, but it doesn't stop interfering burocratic busybodies anticipating what will be EU law apparently as soon as 1.1.2007!!!

The same laws which ensures that the EU send 34 items of personal data to US authorities within 15 mins of takeoff of every US bound aircraft including your credit card details used to book the ticket and the meal you have choosen to eat on the flight.

The DVLA will provide your details to anyone providing the pay the appropraite fee.

Your personal details are traded around the world by the government.

£2.50 and the cost of a stamp buys me your details - £6M per annum revenue stream thats 2.4M records released every year.

Anyone still think if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear? It's an even more idiotic statement that "speed kills"

The good thing about the fixed cameras in France is that where there's a camera there's a sign and vice-versa.

There's none of this plastering towns and villages with camera signage, you see a sign, then a few hundred yards down the road there'll be a camera.

All very transparent.
