Just received two NIP's in post; one for 7th & 8th August. On both of them they have given my speed as 37mph (in a 30mph). I was wondering if there is any point in disputing the accuracy/calibration of the camera? I'm pretty sure I was only doing 30mph as I knew that the camera was there so I was watching my speed anyway and it just seems odd that I was doing exactly the same speed on both occasions (unless my speedo is wrong?). Incidentally, the road is one of the main roads from the town centre and the speed camera is positioned at the bottom of a hill near a small industrial estate, no houses, no schools etc. I have driven the entire length of it and haven't seen a single speed limit sign, even though there is a speed camera warning sign. Has anybody else had a similar experience and is there any point in arguing the toss with them and questioning the accuracy of the camera? Just wondered if it was worth wasting my breath or should I just get the cheque book out?

Seems strange that its exactly the same speed for both - If you were watching your speedo at the time and were bang on 30 then either a) the camera is wrong or b) your speedo is wrong.

You can check your speedo using a sat nav type system.

As for speed limit, if the road has regularly spaced street lights and no speed signs, its 30...

If you're confident that you didn't do it then fight it!

You should be able to gauge your speed using the distance travelled on the lines on the road from the pics.

Surely you still need 30 signs and NSL at the start of such limits?

Agreed.

When there is six points at stake you really have nothing to lose.

i am guessing you went through a fixed camera as oppose to a mobile unit?

Agreed, but in context of OP ("the road is one of the main roads from the town centre" : street lights + no speed limit reminders = 30MPH

Thanks everyone for your prompt responses - in answer to your question; yes, it was a fixed camera. I think I will have a go at arguing this - I'll let you know if I have any luck.
