Just 40 mins ago i was driving home from work when i was at a junction. I was 1st in a line of traffic with a minibus taxi behind me. When the traffic stopped from one of the other ways im sure the light ahead of me changed to green and off i went. 60 meters or so up the road i noticed the taxi had not moved and a car had just turned from the other side of the junction and was behind me and was the only car behind me at that moment.
Im sure the light was at green although i just cant visualise this in my head. Also that juntion in the direction i was travelling in had a camera(one of those going through red light too late ones).
Anybody got any ideas. If i get another 3 points im screwed.
If i was caught the only defence i would have is to say "why would i go if id already been waiting for a while and there are no filter lights on the junction?"
other possibility the taxi may have stalled.
Anybody got any ideas before i take a long walk off a short pier?

Unless you were asleep, I am sure you would have noticed the camera light up the sky behind!

Tell them the missus was driving.

There are no excuses for going through a red light as far as a court is concerned. Its an offence, even if you're letting an ambulance through.

You can see the flashes in daylight so I'm sure you would have noticed.

Go back to these lights und observe the pattern.

Could be they change quickly - I know one which let one car throught und then change again. Ist a good ploy to make the congestion argument..und impose yet another tax on drivers..to plug the politician's pension funds. rolleyes

Could be they changed quickly. Could be the vehicle behind you stalled as well.

Go back und just watch und check if there really ist a camera as well

went back had a look (oh and there is a camera). Watched about 8 revolutions of the lights. there is no slip road its stop and go. Either the car behind me was asleep, the car coming from the right of the junction jumped the light. The lights changed again and the car coming from the right did not have to stop. its so hard to tell.

Anybody got any excuses if i am caught?

Well .. person may have jumped the light..

Not sure about excuses..

Go back again. Was there anything which led you to believe a change in your favour? Take camcorder.. und film from every angle.

Be brutally objective though.. you have to be sure within yourself about whether you broke a law und got copped.

Ist important as acceptance of fair cop mean peace of mind und resentment or feeling of unfair tend to fester und does not improve matters

Nowhere do you say you saw the flashes from the camera, as others have pointed out it's unlikely you'd have missed these. Like speed cameras, many red light cams aren't active all the time, they swap and rotate the active ones. There's one 'large' junction in particular near here where I've gone through the light at green, seen it change to red and watched traffic behind me jump the lights with no reaction at all from the camera at the junction. Several times Relax, there's no point in worrying until the NIP arrives, so make that relaxation last 14 days

Why do you want an excuse?!
IF you did go through a red light, you and everyone else were very lucky!

Sounds odd, obviously you're sure there are no filter arrows?

Do the lights incorporate a pelican crossing which someone pressed and resulted in a quicker change back to red? Unusual to be that quick though.

No offence, but were you alert at the time? Sometimes you can see the crossing traffic's second set of lights go green and subconciously start moving thinking it's your turn.

Jeez bi9_jk, what kind of a country are we living in where we have become so paranoid about what might or might not have been a procedural error that did not even result in someone having to take evasive action.

How does this climate of fear improve safety. I see it every day driving when drivers are making hitherto unpredicatable and potentially dangerous manoeuvres because of fear of enforcement. Like failing to move forward on a green or slamming on the brakes to 30 in an ( unclearly signposted ) NSL just because theyve spotted a contractors van in a layby or even a Gatso

I really cant remember any flashes. It was dark. Probably would have noticed them. Thanks 4 makin me feel better

I was alert. its not asif i had bin drinkin, not had enough sleep, workin to hard like i usually do 7 days a week lol. Id just finished a lesuirely evening shift and was drivin home in no real hurry.

I agree with the paranoa thing. As a new driver (9 Months) im subject to that 6 points in a year and re take da test "new drivers act" thingy. Already havin 3 you can imagine im a BIT worried.

Plus the traffic cops go OTT with new drivers when they catch you doin summat! Drivin its like walkin on eggshells 4 me now.

Thinkin about gettin one of those reflective plate sprays. No point investin in 1 for another 12 days.

6 points in first TWO years will earn you a resit of theory and practical. But as soon as you ve passed them you re back on the road.

Yes

But you can only have it revoked once.
