Parking ticket dilemma, Mr Rational or Victor Meldrew?
Discussion
Wifelet parked up with ticket in the window as per normal, chap got part of the vehicle details wrong on the ticket.
Which letter do you think I should send?
Dear Sirs,
Yesterday evening, on the 11th September 06, I returned to my car in ########### ##### Station Car Park to find a parking ticket attached to the window of my car.
I find this slightly confusing as I pay £750 per annum to park in the station, and was displaying my ticket in my car as I do every day, I have enclosed a copy of my ticket and can provide proof of purchase if required.
I would therefore be extremely grateful if you could cancel this fine and confirm that no other action will be taken against me in this matter.

In response to this I have attached a copy of my annual parking ticket and hope you will accept this as proof that I did in fact pay to use the car park on the day in question.
I would like to add that if some of the profit from my £750 per annum, and that of my hundreds of fellow commuters who also pay to use the facility, were used to provide a decent road surface, cctv coverage, 24hour security and adequate lighting, your operative may have actually been able to see my parking permit, and also been able to accurately record my vehicle details correctly instead of making mistakes on the penalty notice.
I look forward to your response, the cancellation of the fine and your apology in due course.

Don't they take usually take a picture now - erhaps the ticket was obscured, or something?
We have the sticky pay per use tickets here, and they're for ever falling off the windows, but yours sounds like one that's permanently fixed. Why on earth would a warden ticket a car with a valid permit?

They got the reg right, but called it a 330CD rather than a 330d touring, a small mistake I know but a mistake nonetheless.
That's not really a difference at all then, IMHO.
Was the permit in the car / visible (displayed in the correct manner)? Don't know how these annual permits work, but if it's stuck in your car then I'd take a piccy of that and send that with the letter too...basically send as much as you possibly can in the first instance, otherwise said parking company will say no, and the more correspondence they enter into the less likely they are to back down.
That said, in spite of all the evidence in the world, expect them to say no the first time! Also, might be worth writing to the people who you bought the annual pass from (is that the rail company?) - and tell them that despite paying and displaying (a helluva lot of money!) you still had to endure the trauma of fighting a parking ticket.
Good luck Meldrew!

buy a skoda, they've got an ace little clip thingy on the winscreen post just for your parking tickets!
I'd go for something between the two: less apologetic than the first, but dropping the rant from the second.
Pure facts: I have a ticket and displayed it. You incorrectly gave me a penalty. You cancel it forthwith. If I receive a standard letter of refusal in reply, I will escalate the matter. If I receive a threatening letter increasing the penalty, expect to read about this in the press.
