On the street near mine there seems to be some sort of combined DVLA and police operation. There is a DVLA van and a tow truck.

Now a friend of mine has just been told off for parking with two wheels on the pavement (it's not the widest of roads.... and because of this the tow truck is parked half on the pavement and half off and I think it's over a lowered kerb).

Now the same friend has just been issed with a ticket for leaving his engine running while he got out of the car. Can they actually book you for this?

Then I went and did a naughty thing, just round the corner from this operation a neighbour of mine is having some work done on the house, and the builder has parked his van half on/off the pavement... so I did the decent thing, I warned him and he has since moved it, I guess that rates up there in the big crime scales with warning of camera operators!

only on the public roads though right?

I leave my engine running on the driveway everytime the car goes in and out of the garage - i dont see the point in switching it off for 10 seconds...

Or am i now a hardend criminal?
