Speeding gets your goat
'Lack of goats made me speed', says perp
I see no goats, therefore I speed. That was the rationale behind one Swiss man who was caught exceeding the speed limit in Canada.
He was found doing 161kph in a 100kph zone by a traffic police officer, whose notes show that the Swiss driver claimed that he was going fast because he didn't have to worry about goats on the road -- which as mobile chicanes in his area of Switzerland normally caused him to drive more slowly. He was "taking advantage of the ability to go faster without risking hitting a goat", said the notes.
According to the BBC, Canadian police spokesman Joel Doiron said he had never found a goat on the highways of eastern Ontario in his 20 years of service. "Nobody's ever used the lack of goats here as an excuse for speeding. I've never been to Switzerland, but I guess there must be a lot of goats there," he said.
The lack of goatular perambulation cost said driver C$360 (£175).
Would local goat partnerships consider them an alternative to Gatsos?
