Parking tickets
Discussion
Does anybody know how far away special parking notices have to be from the area where you can't park?
Got a ticket the other night at Milton Keynes and there was no clear notices that the street was under special restrictions. Although, at the other end of the street (about 200m away) there was a A4 sign facing the road which was headed 'Public Notice' which couldn't be read from the car.
Do I have much of a case to overturn this ticket? The road was packed with cars parked in exactly the same manner, so I wasn't the only one to believe that the road was under special restrictions.

25th March 2002 The Road Traffic (Permitted Parking Area and Special Parking Area)(Borough of Milton Keynes) Order 2002 came into force covering the whole Borough of Milton Keynes except the A5 and M1 and slip roads.
Signs should be erected on all entrance roads to the Borough to the effect of the Order with details of times etc. Provided these signs are erected then there is no need to sign each individual parking restriction unless there is a change in the restriction. It is therefore quiet possible there were no signs around where ticket issued.
Ensure that there are two dates on the PCN (1) Date of issue and (2) Date/time of offence. If not then ticket is invalid as it does not comply with RTA 1991.

Yes thanks! Although the ticket was on my girlfriends car, I still told her to park there so I feel somewhat responsible!

Hmmm, so I'm guessing the big signs on the main road would cover all surrounding roads. Shame that, oh well I'm trying my luck with a letter contesting it as I was one of about 200 cars parked in that business estate.

What a nightmare getting out though! Fortunately I had bought a streetmap of MK so I was able to whizz through housing estates and surrounding villages to come straight out at J13. Wasn`t the motorway awful? Full of groups of girls in clios and micras etc AND ALL IN THE FRIGGIN MIDDLE LANE......

Wasn't somebody on here done for something similar in Birmingham recently (last 6 months) - but argued that they had entered via a road that didn't have the correct sign on it, therefore hadn't been notified of the restrictions?
By my reckoning that means that so long as there's a single route into MK that doesn't have this sign up then you're on good grounds for an appeal
But I know nothing

I managed to avoid the motorway, went out through Buckingham and some B roads, unfortunaltly as the Rallye still doesn't really have any brakes we had to take my girlies Civic. To say that you feel detatched from the road when you drive it is an understatment!!
