Probably not the best place for a general insurance question, but...

I've had an at-fault accident resulting in a write-off and a 28 day SP50 ban in the last year - previous to this I had a clean record and licence. I'm currently insured under a fleet policy and consequently have no no-claims discount, although before last year I had nine incident free years of driving to my name (I'm 28).

My current insurers have decided that they can no longer cover my choice of car, as it is a grey import. The replacement for the written-off car is also a grey import, Group 20 and modified (over 100% power increase on high boost). Strictly speaking, it will also kept (for the most part) on the street in South London, although this may be negotiable.

Any ideas or tips as to how (if) I'm going to get cover in my own name without lying or pledging my first-born? Have heard all the sell-it-and-buy-a-Fiesta-arguments...

My guess is a Supra, GTO or Skyline...

You'll have to find an insurance company who will mirror your company policy - unfortuantely as you have just had a claim and a ban the effect is the same as having no history.

Either accept a ridiculous premium (£3k+), move, or . . . get rid of the motor until you get at least 1 year's NCB!
