Story here is I lent my car to my parents, who live in France, so they could fly over and then drive down to Cornwall. They are both named drivers on my insurance policy.

So they had a nice holiday for a week or so, drove back, left the car and flew back home to France.

Yesterday a NIP arrived on my doormat - 76mph on the A303 in a 30 zone, apparently. Obviously not me as I was at work at the time.

They shared driving duties throughout the holiday and can't rememeber which of them was driving at the time.

What are my options?

Thanks

Simple, write back explaining exactly what you have told us, should be 'end of story'.

Just today my mate got off a similar thing. He was in the car with 2 friends and they all shared the driving. After responding to the request from the Police, explaining the situation and that they were unsure who was driving at the time of the offence. He was taken to court, and showed his letters of correspondence, and the case was dropped! End of.

Sure? Yes, although if they provided the picture and the driver was identifiable this would not work.

HOWEVER, I do hope you have given your parents a good bit of verbal for doing 76 in 30!

Send back the NIP, but don't sign it.

See: Don't sign that form!

Folks

I wrote to Wiltshire polic explaining the situation.
Today I got a letter back saying they would take no further action.

Hurrah!
