A bit OT but why did you put the apostrophes (incorrectly) in the plurals but not in the contractions where they're necessary?

And don't let's go off on bad grammar rant, I'm genuinely interested in the thought process...

Interesting, I never knew that... Adds a whole new smugness to my vocabulary

I like onanist personally, an excellent word to drop in any conversation.

If he's anything like me, the thought process is something along the lines of "now where do those little feckers go.... ermm... yeah that looks about right?!"

Can never remember when to use them, or the rules behind it - only time I usually get it right is in contractions - pluralising and t'others, forget it!!!

Of course apostrophes in plurals is wrong -- they're called grocers' apostrophes. But don't take my word for it, check out what Bob the angry flower has to say about it:

That reminds me. What's happened to the unfortunate BiB hauled over the coals (full disciplinary whatchamacallit) for calling some crims "pondlife" in a private conversation ? Anyone know ?

Do onanists have conversations? Aren't they usually engaged in solitary activity? Streaky

Pleased to have provided the opportunity for two of the best puns to appear recently in one sentence on PH. My three ex-colleagues Wayne Kerr, "Master" Bates and "Hairy" Hands (seriously!) would appreciate it (on their own, of course)! - Streaky
