Hopefully someone can put me right on this, but a couple of licence saving devices: Snooper, road angel etc claim to be able to detect laser equipment. Being as a laser doesn't give off much in teh way of radiation, how do they do this unless its your car being 'lasered' by which time its a bit late anyway?
I'd like to be wrong about this as I quite fance one of road angel doobries, and the suspect ability to detect the mobile camera is the only thing putting me off

Only defense against a laser is a laser blinder.

by the time you have detected said laser attack they already have your speed 20 times over!

Soulpatch is right. Laser detectors are pointless. On my old car I had a Bel 990 radar/laser detector and LE-850 Laser Jammers. I once drove towards a SCAMera van (already knew it was there) as a test. The detector went off at exactly the same moment as the front jammer went off. i.e. only when my car was being targeted.

Also, for what it’s worth, I have discussed laser detectors and jammers with the MD of the company which imports LTI 20-20 speed guns. He said they have tested most current detectors and jammers against their kit. He reckoned that manufacturers’ claims about laser detectors picking up “scatter” from vehicles in front are mostly rubbish – OK you’d expect him to say that. Although he did grudgingly admit that some of the jammers do work to an extent.

Be aware of South Wales police's 'initiative' to get rid of laser jammers by using the charge of perverting the course of justice.

More on an earlier thread.
