Just been on the Driving Standards Agency web site.

Did both their Mock Theory Tests.

32/35 and 33/35.

Can YOU do better? Go try it and post back your score...

www.dsa.gov.uk

Then...do YOU think all the questions had the right/full answer?

hmmm scored 30/35 on the first one & couldn't be bothered to do the second one. I got 30 as well when I did it for real nearly 4 years ago! :justscrapedby:

Scored 32, but some of it was a bit bollocks.. one of the ones I got wrong was:

"While you are driving in fog, it becomes necessary to use front fog lights. You should:"

I said: "only use them with dipped headlights"

Answer: "remember to switch them off as visibility improves"..

...but then you're not driving in fog anymore therefore the answer isn't relevant..

32/35, though teaching my niece to drive last summer did help....

I didn't know deaf people wore red armbands, thought a warning triangle was 25m not 45m and answered that you should pull across a dual carriageway into a central reserve rather than waiting for both lanes to clear. It did say NARROW central reserve which might have been a clue - but if this was London and you waited for both lanes to clear you'd never get out at all...

:smugmodeon:

I got 35/35 when I took my theory test when I was learning to ride a bike last year. Only took 10 mins from walking through the door to getting my pass cert. The woman behind the counter looked at me as if to say you can't possibly have finished by now and then looked at the results! hehehe

30 and 33

Matt, answered the same as you for the fog light question, on the second test it asks what you should do when the fog has cleared, that makes more sense.

34/35 on the second one - a puffin crossing can detect there are people on it?!

Except its perfectly OK (and sometimes a better idea) to use fog lights with side lights only - not dipped beam. In thick fog dipped beam can reflect off the water droplets and make visibility worse.

32 and 34, not bad for an expat abroad I thought!

BTW what are all those different kinds of crossing, Pelican and Zebra I know, but, Toucan and Puffin?

True SPN,however the answer "remember to switch them off as visibility improves".. is a bit inane isnt it.. its like "remember to switch off the engine when you park the car at night".

I got 30 on the first test, and I've never even seen British road signs. They were the only ones I got wrong (and the MOT, just guessed).

The signs we have over here (Canada) are definately different, so I was just guessing on what yours meant.

All in all, it seemed like common sense stuff to me.
