Just been on a lunch time walk along Tottenham Court Road. Saw a black and white Smart car with large Gatso Camera stickers on doors. I thought it was some joke/publicity stunt.
But no, I just glanced to see two uniformed traffic wardens in there. Video camera high up on windscreen. Camden CCTV written large across rear bumper. Whats it all about? When will they upgrade to Armed Personnel Carriers?

Is it ANPR, perhaps?

I've seen these all around the Borough and wondered what the hell they are for. ANPR is not the council's business.

They are traffic enforcement - bus lanes that sort of thing. Like manned Scameras. A mate got a FPN for turning left at a no left turn in Camden from one a few months ago.

Go and stand directly in front of them and see how pissed off they get hehe

Aye, unlike police I don't suppose they've any good reason to b able to move you on - they're not "law enforcement".

Mind, that's making the assumption that this is still a free country!

PMSL.. Dream on my friend. Armed police will be down on your head like a ton of bricks.. Offence of preventing HMG tax collectors doing their duty. Or terrorism.... Or having an opinion which the Govt does not agree with... Jailed for life I'll wager....:-)

Or even off to get a stripey tan in an orange boilersuit, as preventing tax collection is probably a form of terrorism nowadays!
