Blackpool iluminators were 'avin' a larf....
Discussion
OK - so this weekend was I think the last weekend of the "lights" und we took the kittens down for a jolly treat on the fair ground .. down there (OK - so I like the dodgems und the roller coaster
..)
Anyway.. tootling down the illiminated mile in traffic jam.. useful gadget started screaming und
something flashed in our mirror (we were stationary..
) Ironically the illuminations consisted of cameras on one side und 35 mm film depicting some seaside photos on the other with "flash - bang - wallop" in the middle
The camera illuminations kept flashing an illuminated flash ....
Hah.. very funny not! I wonder how many have spent an anxious 14 days as result of that ...
given the location of the scams every 100 yards or so along this stretch of road
Und then they wonder why according to the local rag ..
could it be.. just possibly .... forests of scams all over the place...

Ach.. I saw that episode of Corrie .. it was in the distant days when there was a plot und a storyline
Ja.. I think there ist one of these at the place where the alleged accident with the tram occurred from memory of this between the North und Central Piers.
I admit.. I have a soft spot for Blackpoo... it remind me of Bet Lynch's dangly earrings und cheap fake furry leopardskins
und Carry On jokes
I also like the big park with the boating pool too und Lytham St Annes - when the sun sets.. it ist really pretty on that coast line. Shame about so many speed cams..
I think this also impact on their tourist trade as there are just too many for reason. I suspect people have been pinged und stay away for that reason. I will say in fairness to the submarinated one here ... the vans are generally per the timetables nowadays - und we do not have forests of yellow boxes like our neighbour - Lancs... er .. yet..
Hence I advise all visitors to our lovely area.. check the timetables und fixed locations before you set off. He keeps to those revenue raising locations.. have never seen the vans where the true dangers lie

Oh my god. Don't even get me started. On that entire run from about the Sandcastle to Bispham there must be at least 15 cameras along the promenade, some within metres of each other. The amusing thing is that on the opposite side of the Sandcastle, from the Pleasure Beach to Starr Gate I'm prety sure there are NONE and as a result all the boy racers use it as their personal race track

Nah, it's because it's a chav infested sh*thole full of drunk stag / hen parties, along with large family groups all of which have gone but think "it's not like the old days"!
Don't like Blackpool anymore...not a nice place IMHO.
Without making any comment on Blackpool*, I think Wildy is right in terms of draconian policing putting visitors off in a general sense.
I say this because I could be very tempted to visit North Wales, but what's the point when the police have made their views on performance car or motorcycle operators loud and clear? Jeez, the car and bike exhausts can almost be heard over the senior officers' whining!
*Blackpool is the only place I've ever heard the chat up line "Fancy a shag?" actually work. And no, it wasn't me

There is one camera North Bound just by the exit of Watson Road (the road that runs under the Pleasure Beach). Oakey is correct about the rest of that stretch - must be 1/2 - 2/3 mile straight where I've seen cars hit very illegal speeds. I've seen one of the scamera cars (ford galaxy) parked up down here with his tailgate open blending in very nicely with the other holiday makers with there tailgates open also. There is actually one camera less on the prom than there was a couple of years back. There used to be one North Bound at the North side of the Metropol Hotel where the tram tracks and road merge.
There have been plenty of letters in the local paper from holiday makers having a go at the number of cameras.

That one just past the Metropole has only disappeared recently, the last year or so perhaps.
Are you sure the Ford Galaxy was a scamera van? I've never seen one on the promenade and the only police liveried Galaxy I ever see driving about is the armed response unit.

Yep - Lancs have always used Galaxys uptill last month, they now have something that should stand out a bit more.

I drive up and down the prom at least 4 times a day on my way to various breakdowns- I can't remember the last time I got above 20mph! How the tourists complain about the speed cameras is beyond me when the vast majority of them are unable to travel above 20mph whilst pointing at stuff and generally ignoring the road completely.
If they aren't enough to contend with then the 20mph resident wrinklies will always put the brakes on ya!

I bet there arent many of us old enough to have gotten that.I don't think it's a question of age, more a case of what you watch on the gogglebox in the evenings.

I bet there arent many of us old enough to have gotten that.It always features on them "best of Corrie" compilations each time the show reaches a "landmark birthday".
Ist when you see them out of context that the naffness of these soap sud plotlines really shows up.. und I think these compilations are much
more watchable
But there ist a scamera at the point where the naughty man argued with a tram
The road by the coast ist jammed when the lights are on.. und perhaps in height of summer - but we drove down it at 27 mph
in "dead season" more than once in the past.
But ist not just this seaside stretch where there are scameras within the illuminations to a ridiculous extent.... they are all over the flipping place along with signs saying "Blackpoo likes 30mph or less". If a scam ist supposed to be at an accident site... then all one can say ist that Blackpoo appears to prove they don't work by having erected more of them yards apart .. und still having accidents per their local "Gazette"
which we buy when we visit.. (we like local papers
- letters und polls give the truer picture of "support for scams"
und these figures also do not support pratster claims to contrary
