Nice one Paul.

A decent article in a high profile setting (and even a photo ). Shows SafeSpeed is really getting them to take notice.

Come on folks - give Paul some more backing!

'I think it's actually dangerous to drive on a motorway at 70mph hour,' Freeman says.

Just as well he's an expert on the law, not driving.

I think you'll find he's saying 70 is dangerous because traffic generally moves at 85+ and the law should change to reflect this.

He's suggesting a striclty enforced 95mph motorway limit.

Most of the traffic in lane one moves at 56mph... It's perfectly easy to drive safely at 70 on most motorways (M25 excepted).

And if the limit is 95 what do we think people will do then, stick to it ?
How does a limit suddenly get strictly enforced if it becomes 95 ?

Still doesn't strictly enforce it, because you could do half the journey cosiderably above the limit & half considerably under it.

Tracking devices on every car could do away with all speed cameras, tolls etc etc.

Technology makes a good servant, but a cruel, incompetent and unwelcome master.

Apart from that... 'every car'? I'm in the 'no way Jose' camp. How many tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands or millions will say 'no thanks'?

You can't do 70 on the M1 (left lane has HGVs in it, middle lane occupied by MLM/overtaking HGVs at 65, lanes 3+ occupied by cruising traffic at 80+), nor on the motorway sections of the A1M (same story), nor on the M18 (again, the same thing).

It's a route I take at least monthly and sometimes weekly.

70 is a nonsense on the motorway.
