...that seemingly police cars are allowed to plough on at 90mph with no lights on on the M4 and yet i am expected to sit at 70(ish...)

Anyone know where you'd stand if you decided to tail (at a reasonable distance) the police car at the speed they are driving at?

Always wondered....

I followed one through light-moderate traffic, at a good 3 second gap, at between 85-90. It was great cos everything else moved out of the way and slowed to 69.
Travelled two junctions on the M4 like this before he pulled off.

Yes, I know its pushing my luck a touch, but I would have driven at a similar speed had he not been there, I'm not going to make any false pretences just cos theres a cop car about - I drive exactly the same as if they weren't. So far, I have had many, many just steam on by, or steamed on by them myself, I had one slow down alongside me and the passenger wagged a finger before flooring it off into the distance -that did make me sweat a bit!- I've managed 7 years like this, if (or more likely, when) I do get stopped, I'll just have to take it like a man. I tend to make sure I stay in three points territory most of the time.

Because they don't have to have blue lights on to use their exemption, you don't have an exemption. They can also have rear mounted cameras to record those following.

They were all stuck in the traffic jam too... They would have had to decloak to catch us

Followed one from Exeter to Bristol at a steady 100mph along the M5. The fact that it was from a northern constabulary (with 2 BIBs in uniform) gave me extra courage.
