Which would attract the least points/penalty?

Not causing death etc etc, but if you were just cruising along, plod pulls you, what would you be punished if you had no insurance?

Is baldy tyres still 3 points/tyre?

BTW, its just a daft pub argument so don't think i'm off out in a defective vehicle heh heh - I wouldn't be that daft!

£1000 per tyre if plod doesn't like the cut of yer jib, also if you have a prang with ins but bald tyres the plod will probably do you if they get involved which will mean you were driving a defective vehicle which will mean the ins company giving you the bird

looks like I lost my argument if that £1000/tyre is true.

BTW, welsh rarebit is a soup and cheese on toast - another daft pub argument, but we were both right

When I was a lad, ah hem.. I had a 3 door sierra cosworth and when i first bought it the tyres were really F1 style.

On my way to get tyres the police stopped me and said you have 2 bald tyres. I agreed and told him I just bought the car and was off to get it sorted. He said get it fixed and have this bit of paper stamped by an MOT garage and handed back to us within 2 weeks.

No points or fines.

Max points as of the DETR leaflet i have at home is 3-6 points and £1000 fine (can't remember if that is fixed or a maximum though) per defect!!

So that is not per tyre - if you had two cuts say in the sidewall, thats two fines...!

9 points and a fine i beleive. I saw a program, young people wer not getting insurance because the punishment is less than the cost of insurance. Also for new drivers, they get more points than your licence has (because held for less than 3 years) but less than a normal licence.
so i presume thats between 7-11?
However, it was ages since I saw this program, and it probably was on CH5. Dont even know why I wrote this, not very helpful.
