The speedo' in my vintage car is hopelessly inaccurate, altho I know I'm doing 30mph when the speedo shows about 22mph. Also the gauge only go'es up to 35mph, back in the days when the car was manufactured (1925) I guess these sort of little details did'nt matter quite as much as today, sort of stick your finger in the air (no not that finger)to gauge the speed. hehe

Just thought I'd mention it for a chuckle.

If I recall correctly under C&U regulations your car doesn't actually need a speedo! Only from 1937 onwards.

yes

No vehicle first used before 1/10/1937 requires a speedo to be fitted.

So does that mean that if one went past a Gatso (and set it off) in a pre 1/10/1937 vehicle could you in theory get away with it because you have no way of determining your speed (since there is no speedo fitted)?

Sorry for asking a silly question!!!!

Funny you should ask that question, a gatso could'nt pick out my number plate anyhow owing to it being positioned virtually on the diff' (as from manufacture) So maybe I can blat past gatso's with my finger in the air biglaugh mind you I reckon the BiB would soon catch up with me, in more ways than one.
