Why is someone from BRAKE allowed to comment? Why does the BBC NOT ask someone with the slightest hint of road safety education to comment?

Its a rubbish story giving no reasons for the speeding or where it was sourced from.

As the article states. Let the PF deal with it.

The real irony is that he's a Durham plod, where they don't have a fixation on cameras...

I am firing an email off to the BBC though. I will be quoting from their own text on fair reporting and journalistic integrity.
Quite looking forward to that as i will have a bit of time in the morning to do it properly.

Good for you. I actually have a very good friend who is a very principaled man and he jacked in his very good paying job as a journalist with the BBC due to the rubbish they had him read out on the news. To be fair to the BBC though they are not the worst by a long shot but they should still hang their heads in shame for the tripe they come out with.

The media frenzy engulfing Suffolk Police is a damn good example of this. Why the hell is the SIO having to take time out to talk to the media when he has 3 murders and 2 suspicious deaths all possible linked to deal with. I bet he doesn't want to be on TV answering stupid questions so the hounds can sell papers and line their pockets on the back of those poor souls who are now dead.

I read a report today that basically said "Oh you are a small force can you cope have you ever had a serious crime before"? That is a bloody slur on all the officers involved in this. The Met would struggle to deal with this. Thats why the police in the UK assist each other when required. I wanted their Chief to give that idiot journalist a damn good hidding for such a stupid and insolent question.

What do the press know about who to run a large scale investigation. Hindesight journalism, armchair experts. My blood boils.

Usual Crap. if he's on the road I'm thinking of he could go faster, (not that I ever have been on the M9 at that speed).

Because BBC has to dance to tune of the control freaks in No 10 und No 11..

Und Gently Bentley Liebchen.. the dig at Suffolk police.. They all refused to merge - nicht?

They try the old waggy finger "told-ya-so!" routine. I have no doubt that Suffolk police will cop the lunatic person killing those girls.

I hope very soon ..

Ist a pity we do not have death penalty... for drug dealers who lead these girls into this existence und sadistic murderers furious

Suffolk Police didn't refuse to merge because they can't refuse. Gordon Brown refused to fund the merger due to cost. Forces merging is a political decision taken by the Home Office is consultation with the Treasury.

Ach - but not all presented business plans und whilst Durham und Northumberland were "OK" with a merger.. Cleveland raised objections. Lancs und Cumbria spent fortune on this .. und want to merge as they spent too much money on the project - per the Westmorland Gazette of few month ago.

Treasury then canned the idea as bad move .. und they close police stations down, freeze recruitment of proper BiB und spend a lot of money on the plastics which we don't really want. rolleyes

Do the police (I realise forces will differ) not have a press officer to deal with this kind of thing, or is it that they feel they will come under fire for not feeding the hounds?

On the whole, I think the move to 24 hour news coverage has been a bad thing for quality of output. In the past, stories would come in and there would at least be some decent editorial control as the shorter programme time meant they had to be selective about what was shown. Broadcasting all the time means there is pressure to fill the time, so minor details that would previously have been used to shape the story are broadcast as though they are important, and the constant interviewing of "experts" doesn't help either. The dumbing down of the news is one of my pet hates.

Ja - und they repeat it all in loops as well too. I also think this ist how we end up jumping to all sort of conclusions too.

Also - we may fasten on the minor und miss the important bits.. und thus miss the whole point und salient data.

We had comments from the hairdresser und her client having a shampoo und set. If someone walked into salon und asked me what I thought about these murders whilst I was having my hair coiffed .. armed with microphone und cameras .. I think camera would have had a few rollers should down its lens! There ist a time und a place for such interviews...und when hair ist being rinsed of its conditioner ist not the time for this either. I doubt if either of the ladies interviewed would be his next victims either. He ist targetting one set like the Jack und the Yorkshire Ripper before him.. I think the interview with the Manchester "working girls" to be pee-cee for once - was more relevant. Those girls explained why they did this und spelled out the dangers they face each time. It was rather thought provoking und a lot deeper than the "interview in the salon for the sake of filling out the story"

Yep, again, take a list of all members of Brake.

Then write to them, advising them that should they or any member of their family require the emergency services, that those services will drive at the required speed limit, and will not risk the lives of others by running red lights, driving in bus lanes etc.... I would love to see what the feckers did then.

They are probably against animal testing too ... until one of their ankle-biters needs treatment with a drug (which will most likely have been tested on animals, of course) - Streaky

I think that about sums it up. I don't watch BBC news anymore, it's cringemakingly biased.

Can't be bothered to watch the news on TV just read about it in the paper. Certainly don't watch terristrial TV as it's rubbish, i have sky tv but still pay £100+ a year on a TV licence i don't need & could be saving up for the next tax on me a motorist. rage
