59 Deaths on Cumbrian roads have brought out a new measure from the local police. Shop any bad driver you see.....
Haven't seen any bad driving over Shap on the M6 but quite a lot on the minor roads...so where does the scamera units frequent.....no, its not the minor roads...they're too busy promoting safe driving on the M6.
They don't have any ability promoting safe driving cos they wrongly see excess speed as bad driving, they need top get out of thier vans and start communicating with the driving public ...take a leaf out of Durhams police forces approach. Sitting in a van on a motorway bridge is a total waste of time and they should be held partially responsible for the increase in deaths, its obvious their current policy is not working.
Hang you head in shame Cumbrian Safety Cameras.

Unless of course the bad driver you shop happens to be a BiB, (OK has only happened to me once in 11 years living in N Lancs), when the reaction can be a bit harsh.

Their vans are everywhere but in the danger zones. He go for "easy targets und not the danger targets. rolleyes

But having said that .. closing twisty cross pennine routes to highsided und caravans good call after last year's experiences. rolleyes

As are the fixed scams. Ings ist one such example of Steviebabe's fixation. The accidents occurred outside the 40 mph in village und the ones which occurred .. not speed related as in one nodding off at wheel und two heart attacks in the NSL beyond.. rolleyes

I would not necessarily shop a bad driver.. I might report a truly dangerous one und I would report dangerous pothole or debris on road as well or if I discerned icy road or thought black ice situation might develop as result of cold spot.. then naturally .. I would pick up phone to whatever agency und hope they take note or at least inspect it. which would be rare in reality rolleyes

maybe if cumbria county council actually did something to investigate the dangerous road there then it would help the accident stats.. I think the etertainment budget on coffee/cakes etc for 12 months was £10k which would help install things like anti skid surface coating on the approach to junctions.

I worked for the transport unit of Cumbria county council and to be honest, they are the biggest waste of space i have worked with, especially the poeple who are outsourced to Capita Symonds under the newlabour incentive to privatise the councils

how would you shop a bad driver? If you went into the cop shop and said 'I've just seen a car with the reg abc 123 dirving badly' then surely theyll just say they can't do anything as there's no evidence. Not to mention the wohle thing is open to abuse

So, everyone in Cumbria, make notes of all the "bad driving" you see. MLMs etc.., dangerous turns, dangerous lane changes.. then submit to the plod. Make no mention of speeding (which of course, as non BiB you are not qualified to offer an opinion on anyways.....Would love to see what they do then....

there is a sad web site for the self-righteous to post your details on and what you did

I had a look to see if I was listed, but no such luck (yet)

What's meant by a "bad driver"?

There are many different opinions no doubt. What a sad pathetic idea.
