...stop whingeing about specific BiB on here?
Maybe I'm getting too sensitive, but there seem to have been a lot of threads recently about perceived wrongs perpetrated by Police officers.
I've said it before, I'll say it again. There are bad Police officers. There are also bad plumbers, lawyers, builders, gardeners... We are human beings, not automatons. Sometimes even the good BiB make mistakes or have an off day. I think I already said on here that 99% of BiB never get in any bother or behave inappropriately, 0.9% do or say things they shouldn't, but usually without malice (engaging mouth before brain is in gear), and the remaining 0.1% shouldn't be in the job. I'm probably in the 0.9% if I'm honest.
If a Police officer does something that upsets you, or even that you disagree with, posting on here won't make a jot of difference (unless all you want to do is let off some steam). If you really want something doing about it, then make a formal complaint. OK, you may feel that such a complaint will never be investigated, but it's got a much greater chance of being investigated than the complaint that is never actually made.
I don't have any problem with non BiB asking questions relating to procedure and/or the law, that's what (IMHO) this forum is for.
ons flame retardant underpants, and waits for the flaming... :
And just for the record (again), a BiB does't have to have the auxiliary warning equipment operating on their vehicle to exceed the speed limit, no matter what your uncle's mate's next door neighbour's drinking buddies hairdresser says...

I agree Dibble.
Far too much BiB bashing from people that don't have a clue what they are talking about.
Just let our boys in blue get on with the job they are paid to do.
Posters on this forum would not like it if every post was telling them how to do their own job, so get a life !!

I do agree but playing devil's advocate for a second this forum *is* "Speed, Plod and the Law" - it's not "Gardens, Plumbing and Haberdashery" - of course people are going to feel aggrieved when they get stopped and it's a bit totalitarian to say "well don't discuss it here, this is for reporting all the good things the police do and the intricasies of law and order"...
The name calling is a bit far, but someone posting "I got stopped by a copper for eating a twix bar" or something like that does fall under the remit of the forum and as such is a valid topic of discussion - of course, if someone comes along saying "ah yeah all coppers are arseholes and they'd do you for so much as breathing out of sync" is well over the limit and should be dealt with. The rough must be taken with the smooth, or else you have a very one sided perception of what is actually going on.
Just my 2p

Definately, I will admit that and bib-bashing is 100% crap, it doesn't have any place on here - when a thread goes from "I'm letting off a bit of steam" to "rarrgh I hate the police" then it's time to get the padlocks out...
Just admittedly you, being a copper - will see the good side of the job more than the bad side, us being on the receiving end though makes it seem like unfair treatment when we get stuck on for doing something that could be interpreted as minor...
I'm not trying to provoke anything though here

Must've been busy last week!

Now that you have mention it, from my experience when a Plumber or builder is critiziced for bad workmanship, usually other plumbers and builders rip them to bits as well, unlike BiB who tend to stick together and support each other, as in the case of PC Akrill.(Chinese takeaway).
He was not guilty like OJ Simpson was not guilty.

My cousin BiB does tell folk to complain. He say that even if you hear nothing further .. it does not mean person who caused upset was not advised und given some advice to improve
or even disciplined in some cases
und then given construictive professional advice to turn thing around

But the BiB still need to be on genuine call und not bringing professional of your calibre down to his inept level by picking up Chow Mein und invoking bad fortune cookies
by using a chance shout to "squirm out of real responsibility"
I know your type have more about themselves to do that sort of thing
I guess so, maybe using the terms "good side" and "bad side" wasn't the most tactful way I could have phrased it...
I reckon as soon as people see that 99.9% of coppers don't go out to specifically stop them at that precise time for doing whatever they're doing, and they realise it's "just another day at the office" for the specific bib at the time, and that they'd more than likely go on to see a lot of things that most normal people wouldn't want or need to see - the better...
The thing is, I'm still very *very* interested in taking the force as a career path, so random bib-bashing won't be done by me, although I do tend to sit on the fence when it comes to jumping into a discussion (as I am here!)

I think that in this day and age, that's actually happening less and less.
I did post on the PC Akrill thread a similar hypothetical situation that I could see happening, but accept that the public's perception would be that it was "jobs for the boys".
There is an ever increasing fear creeping through the rank and file BiB, that if they stick up for a colleague in the wrong, they will find themselves in the mire too.
I thought this thread was going to link to an advert placed on behalf of Tony's Cronies inc, "can we all just get a gong"
As far as the going rate for a K or a P is concerned, if you have to ask...and I'd have to.
So it's about BiB bashing, for 2p I'd say there have been a few more "this nasty plod didn't like me" threads of late but they're par for the course shirley.
The overwhelming majority are about political policymaking that has BiB at the sharp end taking the flak, and undeservedly so in terms of the PH flak. Many threads are NOT about front line officers but the political animals occupying very senior rank and by implication how these very senior officers have allowed the police force itself to become politicised, to become a punchbag for politically correct fools, and who have culpably failed to speak out against policy failures while partaking in some very dodgy statistical shenanigans within the pratnerships (even if that is mostly guilt by association) while brown-nosing their way to further promotion and political patronage. Plus the odd gong or two, which is where I came in so I'll now go out again.
Whatever else, may I make a plea to our ossifers NOT to upsticks and go in a hufty tufty, whatever may be said - nothing typed on here should prove too much for our broad shouldered BiB. This forum would clearly not be the same without a police presence, and I believe I speak for the majority of fellow PHers when I say that your internet camaraderie and input are valued very highly, and even if we disagree with you over some issues we want you to stick around. OK?
