Idris Francis recommends this. Anyone else got one.

It seems to suggest it has a record of popular mobile sites too. I was told some time some time ago by Blackspot that they don't add mobile sites to their Road Angel database.

Do any of them?

Cheers

If Blackspot don't add mobile sites, then I wonder what makes my Road Angel pop up the mobile camera alerts.

I have a microfuzion. It does report "possible mobile scammers" although it only gives you 500 yards warning, and some of these s take pot shots from much further away. It's not a bad bit of kit, but they're quite slow to update some of the temporary scammers (at roadworks and so on.) Shouldn't be too much of a problem though.

Also, because of the shape, it's not an ideal unit for a convertible, the display picks up a lot of glare, but for a tintop it's good. Worth the money, I reckon.

I presume these are not mobile sites added by you. I spoke with Road Angel some time ago and was told they did noy intend to add mobile sites.

I guess their policy has changed.

Cheers.

I think the mobile alerts with RA refer to semi permanent sites where they are able to plug into induction coils previously embedded in the road but only used on fine days and holidays when the pickings are good - not the free roaming "safety" scameras.

RA database contains locations of frequent laser spots - regardless of coils in the road or not

Just had this from Blackspot. Begins:

Thanks for your email. Up until November 1st we’ve never included mobile speed traps in our database, but since have added them under “Mobile Van” sites on all new units. At present you can receive alerts to these sites on Road Angel Compact, Plus, Navigator, 6000 and 7000 units. If you already have one of the listed products and want to receive these alerts you will need to visit the relevant support page on our website www.blackspot.com and download the latest software.

Ends.

Bit off topic, but are radar and lazer detectors illegal yet in the uk. There was a big thread sometime ago on PH
