hi chaps,
A mate of mine received a notice that he had been zapped jumping a red light. Strange thing is the date of alleged offence was 5th Sept 05 and he only received the notice last week (24th Jan 07). That was four months ago!
Is this right?
Any advice greatly appreciated (by him, not me obviously)

You mean 5th Sept 2006 I guess?

If the NIP has been sent to "the registered keeper" as given by the DVLA, and then eventually it has got to him, then it's legit - if the DVLA have had his details, then he should have got it within 14 days. I'd be asking the question of why it has taken so long...as this isn't right IMHO.

That said, did he do it / knowingly do it?

yes sorry meant sept 06.

He certainly has no recollection of purposely jumping a red light.

Then I'd be writing back to say that you've no idea if you're guilty or not as it's nearly 5 months between the date of the alleged offence and the receipt of the NIP.
