Did something silly yesterday
Discussion
Thought i would tell what happened yesterday to show we all do pretty stupid things and the Police do have some patience.
Only a simple, was in the 3rd lane of the A1(M) in flowing traffic, had seen two Polic Volvos come past already. I managed to ignore my mirros after that and i held up the thrid for what i rekon a good 300 yards!! Not long enough for him to get irate but long enough for me to feel like a t
t.
Everyone makes mistakes.
At least i didn't miss the next 3 Polices Volvos that were closing up.

Woman held me up for 3 miles in outside lane of dual carriage way A64 East bound - suddenly when she went for the mirror to do her lipstick she saw me!

3 miles? Did you have the flashy thingies and woop-woops going? If so, how on earth did she not spot you for 3 miles?

Only uses mirror for lipstick applications, radio cranked up loud, brain on standby. 60% of the general public drive this way, trust me!
Returning from France one evening, I was driving along the motorway toward the M25. Although traffic was very light, the car I was driving was not particularly discreet, policing is heavy on that stretch, and I was consciously adhering to the posted limit.
In my mirrors, I saw a Mercedes in lane 3 (nothing in lane 2) catching me quite quickly but impeding the progress of a BMW behind it. As they get closer, I notice the BMW has twin rear exterior mirrors. This'll be interesting, I think.
They pass me doing about 90mph. It's now clear that the BMW is an unmarked police car, driven by an officer. We exchange a quick wry smile, before he passes.
Eventually the Mercedes notices the BMW and pulls over to lane 2. The BMW driver passes and holds his hand up in thanks. Then continues on his way...
I don't know if the Mercedes driver learnt anything from the encounter, but it was a great example of patience, restraint and courtesy from my perspective.

I saw a similar one on the M4 one bright sunny early sunday morning. I was in L1 at about 80 approaching a lone car in L3 doing about 60. I saw a marked patrol car coming in the distance making substantial progress. So rather then dealing with the outside car situation in my usual way, I slowed and hung back to see what the trafpol would do. He sat behind the car in L3 with blues and twos on for what seemed like an age (several miles) before moving to L1, going by and regaining his grande vitesse! The L3 driver stayed put!

ok - will come clean to having overtaken Bib van on M1 just before xmas on my way from Surrey to Newcastle.
Roadworks signed ahead in 2 miles, I can see about 2 dozen vehicles sitting in lanes 1 and 2 and lane 3 is completely, there is nothing in front of the traffic for a good mile. Roadworks will have a 50 limit on them and I'm thinking that traffic is slowing for the roadworks a bit early. So I decide to pass everything before I have to slow (my cruise is nicely set to just under the lepton) which will afford me open road in front, nicely ready to come out the other side.
How I didn't see he was Bib until I was alongside the van at the front I really don't know - but there I am, now 200 yards ahead of white van and at 50 waiting for him to pull me over even if it's just to rag at me. Fortunately he's not interested - but I did feel a prize pillock.

But the speed is the killer.....

Have never seen that many Polices cars in one go in a long time. Best bit i saw of POlice driving was a few years ago when three POlice Omegas came past on an A road and i pulled over the t
t behind went around me!! How the coppers missed him i don't know.
Everyone had pulled over, even the oncoming traffic had pulled over, but no, the van was immune to everything.

Frightening really - change of tone on the old ne nahs, a host of flashing lights that close encounters would have been proud of!
Still she progressed at 70mph in the outside lane, all other traffic partinng infront of her like Moses and the Red Sea. She must have been thinking that the trip home was easy today
