A real minor question here.

How long do speeding point stay on a license for there days? Is it three or five years?

Never had any so not quite sure...

Thanks for your help.

Count for totting purposes for 3 years.
Stay physically on licence for 4 years.
Discloseable to insurers etc for 5 years.

If you are the holder of a Community Licence (the plastic one with photo) the points stay on your counterpart despite being spent after 4 years (speeding) they will remain open to inspection until such time as you apply for a clean sheet.

Likewise the non photo paper Licence.

Never carry the paper bit. No nosey cop gets to see that. He only gets to see the fact I've got a current licence! hehe

What I don't understand is that if you can get the points removed from your license after 4yrs, how is the insurance company going to know? (as they ask for the last 5yrs info)

maybe they wont but if it comes out in the future you'll have a problem because you didn't disclose it

makes little or no difference to your premium anyway

Once again we see the penetrating logic of the British system.silly

Do these people do stupid things for a laugh, or are they simply sleepwalking through life?

The points can be removed from your licence after 4 years, that is if you apply for a new licence they won't be on it when you get it. They will however still be on your driving record at DVLA, your driving record being very different from your driving licence.
The DVLA print out of your driving record is what the court sees when you go to court.
The 5 years comes from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. You only have to disclose such criminal offences that have resulted in a fine for 5 years, beyond that they are spent. That's why the insurance company can ask for any convictions in the last 5 years.
If you fib to them about convictions, convictions form a material risk in assessing you for insurance & as such you could be commiting a criminal deception by knowingly failing to disclose when asked, in order that you could achieve a financial gain of a lower premium.
