Police car at the side of the road spots girlfriend slowing from NSL to 40 zone and zaps her at 50MPH with dodgeyscope. They then follow her up the road which goes back into NSL again before coming to her junction. This is about 3/4 mile. She turns right and carries on for 1 mile into village before the blues come on. They then do her for speeding. 50 in a 40.

Is there some sort of min/max distance involved in a pull?

No. I would not sign the overtime if they followed her for hours though.

Maybe they just wanted to stop her somewhere where there were street lamps?

basically zapped her just entering 1 village, then followed her out of the village, 1.5 miles country roads into another village before stopping her.
