Rush-hour traffic was brought to a standstill as a police speed camera enforcement van was crushed between two lorries on the A127.

The driver of the van was taken to hospital with minor injuries after the smash near the Tesco roundabout, in Southend.

A third lorry was also involved in the crash on the Southend-bound track of the dual carriageway yesterday afternoon.

Traffic tailed back to Kent Elms Corner as police spent two-and-a-half hours clearing the debris...

Wonder how many of the drivers had points on their licence and took an opportunity to get some revenge ...?

I note that witness should call the police, it would be nice if they said that all the traffic was going along well with no problems when a car doing 50 suddenly braked when they saw the camera van.

Yes but you can see the counter-quote -

"Speeder relents and saves lives, other speeders didn't and caused this accident"

The link goes to an article titled: "Southend: Firefighters rescue kitten stuck in pipe"? Probably more important than clearing up the debris left by a crushed talivan!

Is that Essex speak for London?

Can one of these vans do you if it is in motion? I overtook one this morning without thinking.

No they can't get you if they're moving.

N.B. If you overtake one, be sure to slow down to half the speed limit and stay in front of it for as long as possible.
