Didn't the Sun film Brunstrum's daughter or something once to highlight the hypocracy of these people?

We know or can find out the addresses of the Speed Camera Businesses so I wonder what's to stop a member of the public filming their employees commuting to make sure that if they accidentally strayed over the (GPS verified) speed limit they could be reported?

Seems to me like a public spirited move, after all if they're earning their living by making people drive safely, they'd be delighted if it was brought to their attention that they'd inadvertantly become unsafe on a journey wouldn't it? I suppose the 60 quid fine and three points each time might go somewhat against the grain but sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. Also once caught being unsafe, they'd find their position in the company untenable so resignation would logically, sadly, have to follow.

Next question is, once you have the evidence do you make a citizen's arrest or just bundle up the evidence and pass on to John Law to make the prosecution?

Or perhaps their employees would volunteer to have trackers fitted to their cars to automate the process.

A few years ago, in one of the sunday papers from memory, they set up a speed trap next to a school, which has a 30mph limit. You guessed it, Mr Hypo"I've just sold out my scamera importing business for £25m+"crit was caught over a week period doing speeds of between 38 and 42mph in a 30.

The reason I remembered the story is it's a road a I travel on quite frequently.

Surely the police would be interested in this. If not, why not?

There is nothing they can do. Wouldn't have been an authorised person operating the speed measuring equipment etc........

This is a thought I have every time I hear the self-righteous PR bint from Brake on the local radio proclaiming:

"I never have to worry about speed cameras, as I never speed...."

Anyone care to camp out along her route to / from work with a borrowed speed gun and put her claim to the test?

Indeed, but what if it was a police officer who was off duty? He would be authorised?

Yes, the Sun did nick the daughter IIRC and it was quite a speed she was doing in a 30, I am sure she spent the next 7 years in jail for killing an entire classroom of children........

I think it is a fine idea, I would love to see it done, and videod as well.. Could mount the LTI 20-20 on a tripod too for accuracy?
