I was acquitted of assault and battery with a deadly weapon (wrench) this morning!
On 16 March, I was working the graveyard shift and a man in a trenchcoat and jeans walked up to the counter, drew a knife, and announced that he was robbing the store. I pinned his arm to the counter and struck him with the 17mm wrench that I had in my hand at the time.
I represented myself in court, entering a plea of not guilty, and pretty much won it when the tape from the security camera was played. The jury deliberated for about 5 minutes before announcing the acquittal.

My thoughts exactly - surely the Police would have seen the CCTV footage and then reported to the CPS that there was no need for a criminal prosecution... Seems daft that it got that far...
Glad to see that you were aquitted though - hope the scrote got a good hitting...
Cheers,
