Recently I drove from the Highlands to Edinburgh and was behind a police car most of the way.

At one point, he overtook a lorry after what in my view was a poor manouvre - on a bend and over double white lines.

So what would have happened if I'd done that instead of waiting until it was safe to do so....

Also the guy created such a tailback it was unbelievable - sticking rigidly to the speed limits of course, unless overtaking on occasion. Also, he seemed just a little too close to cars in front...

One rule for this person it seems...

If you got the index number then report it.

Yep. Can't see the one rule for them one rule for us argument at all here. Report it and they will be dealt with in the same manner you would have been dealt with had you done it. Simple.

Have the police been informed of this incident? If not, how can you claim that there is "one rule for them, another for us"?

Regarding the driver sticking to the speed limit, would you not have also complained had the driver not obeyed the speed limit?

If he's sticking to the speed limit, then surely he shouldn't exceed it just to overtake?

And most certainly ought not to have done so by crossing double white lines...

adds some salt for flavour, stirs pot and stands back

Yes, he really accelerated hard, two or three times in my view. I know it exceeded the speed limit as I was doing it and he accelerated clearly away from me while overtaking. I had a GPS speedo too!

I didn't report it no. Don't fancy the agro of the response!

If it was me, i wouldn't have been so close to the lorries as he was. It's always safer to keep a good distance if you want to overtake I would have thought. Just my opinion and I'm not saying he did anything illegal or wrong - just an observation from the vehicle I was traveling in and it may have just been my viewpoint....

Maybe they were on a training exercise!

Was being a little sarcastic matey but you do have to be careful of accusing people on a public forum which is the reason for the last post.

Anyway, you have to be careful of what you write, but as I said, he crossed the double white line. I'm sure if I had been in front and he behind I would have been pulled over.
