I just got back from a week on holiday yesterday to find that at least 3 stretches of previous NSL roads over Epsom Downs and similar areas have been given blanket 40mph limits!!!

They did that on my favourite stretch of A-road, a few months later is was back up to NSL. Strange. I am not complaining though!

Got a load of 50 limits my way. Not so bad as 40 I hear you say, but 10 times more likely to be manned by Talivan, so not good.

non dual carriageway NSLs are indeed an endangered species..

as I pointed out a couple of weeks ago, I hacked all the way across Surrey on the back roads a few weekends back and hardly even saw an NSL. Total shit - Surrey is only good for going there to die as far as I'm concerned now. These councils have blown it big time.

A terrible shame, a shambolic display of blinkered nimbyism and a depressing tour de force from the thinkofthechildrenistas..

You want to try living in Milton Keynes. Every dual carriageway is NSL (expect ones in the centre - understandably)and all roads leading away from MK. A majority of the roads in MK are Dual Carriageway linked together by the 100+ round abouts - which, 8 times out of 10 have a good smooth surface..

I must say I'm surprised that the limit on the Dual Carriageways hasn't been reduced yet, although we are starting to see bus lanes appear...!! Why, when there is v.little congestion in MK..?

seems like the more we object to it, the more they reduce. Yet if you don't object.. they reduce anyway. Lose lose situation. Not terribly happy about it, but what can you do?

Thats because they realise people want to get away from there
