3 cheers for the canadian police
Discussion
Driving through Banff national park I was stopped doing 120kmh with a speed limit of 90kmh whilst trying to keep up with the other 2 cars in our convoy who were itching to get to the ski shop before it closed. Thankfully we only got a warning and needless to say I used the cruise control for the rest of our trip there and back to Calgary. The others were stopped further down the road and also got warnings. I wonder if visiting Canadians would have fond our police as lenient. I hope so.

Of course that's possible in theory - never heard it happen though, although they might do you for 10 over if they're really short of ca$h.
And there are no "instant fines", since receiving a ticket is not an admission of guilt; the ticket is simply representative of an allegation that a violation of the traffic code occurred.
Paul,
I'd say you're pretty lucky, usually in the National Parks, they are REALLY sticky about speeding. As well, the fine is higher. I think you may have lucked out being a foreigner.
But all in all, our Mounties are pretty good, and we don't have those cameras like you guys.
Normally we are given the grace +10 kph, but I guess they could do you for +1, and they aren't instant fines, they give you a ticket to sign and pay, or go to court over, and mail it in later. Trying to pay on the spot could get you into trouble for bribery (or no ticket)
Oh, and Paul, next time you're over, bring thr Tuscan along, I'll head to Calgary to get a ride!
