The Gloucestershire branch of the magistrates association have announced that they are to 'crack down' on burglars with stiffer sentences.

Won't the police actually have to attend the scene of burglaries, investigate and catch some-one first?

Of the five burglaries that I know of that have happended to neighbours or friends the police only bothered to attend one. For that one they did catch the culprits - 2 teenage boys who had 'bunked off' school that day - one was wearing one of the stolen wedding rings!

Hype ?

The prisons are full - the magistrates can make all the claims
they like, but until such time as there is room to store
these extra burglars, I can't see much happening.

I would imagine that most burglars get less than three
years, so they will only do eighteen months tops anyway,
since they get half off.
