New 30MPH limit - Blackwall Tunnel South Bound

[michaeljclark]

When did the new 30MPH limit appear for the Southbound Blackwall Tunnel?

I was quite happy ambling along the A12 last night and then I suddenly saw the 30MPH signs just before the tunnel entrance.

How long they been there then?

No one else saw them becuase I wa being flashed and beeped thru the tunnel last night, interestingly no one attempted to overtake

Oh well another bit of fun taken away

I thought it had been 30 for ages (at least since they needlessly reduced the approach road to 40). Last time I went though it south bound everyone maintained a nice 40 average though

I can't remember the speed limit being anything other than 30 there since I started driving in 1989.

In about 1981 I used to commute through the Blackwall tunnel and I remember southbound traffic flowing at 60-70mph. It's a nice bit of road - or was. I think it was NSL but I can't be sure.
