Hi everybody,
Got a quick question for the experts! Got flashed tonight in a moment of stupidity...
However - there only seems to be one camera (Gatso) on the other side of the road, facing in the direction from which I had come, and with lines on that side of the road (and in the middle). In addition, it only flashed once.
I believe, then, that it can't have caught me - it must have flashed the road behind me. Even if it had caught me on camera, if it only flashed once then I can't be done AFAIK.
Do these cameras randomly flash if they think somebody's speeding but on the other side of the road or something? It certainly slowed me down...
No matter how much I try to convince myself I'm alright it will be another nervous 2 weeks waiting for the post

It flashed once. No worries. I set off the crapper up the street everyday, never been ticketed yet...mind you..it cant catch what it cant see..
Two flases =2 photos....speed equals distance over time, and for that, 2 flashes and hence 2 photos need to be taken.

Was it Gatso or Truvello?
If it was a gatso camera, then you are safe it it flashed only once. If it was a Truvello, then I am afraid you may expect the inevitable.
Truvellos can be turned around to face the traffic on the opposite side to which they are sited. They do not have the same road markings as Gatso i.e. graduated white paint marks at 12 inch intervals both in the gutter and adjacent to the central white line of the carriageway/s it protects and fro about 100 feet from the camera position.
Truvello cameras have a lens which is large and round like an SLR camera lens that sticks out of the centre of the box. It has a red filter cover on it so that it can take a photgraph of you coming towards it without blinding you with flashlight. You can see the camera activate even though this is attached. With Truvello, one photo is enough.

Pretty sure it's a normal Gatso - the usual square box, not one of those funny elongated ones with the round lens. Plus, it's been there for a few years (at least 2) and aren't the Truvelo ones more recent?

Gatso Cameras are capable of being fitted with a dummy unit that will activate the flash unit in the camera. This happens when you pass the camera at in excess of the limit it controls as a live Gatso does. It flashes only once. It is a warning to slow down!
