In March I was Clocked doing, well he said I was doing 106. he said he clocked me from 645yards away as I came over the brow of the hill. He was sat in his car which was at right angles to the road I was travelling on. Do Plod with a hand held speed gun have to have it on a tripod or do they have to be stood with the gun resting on something to keep it steady to get an accurate reading, If anyone can give me some guidence on this.
Secondly I recieved a summons through the door for the speeding but it has got the wrong details on it. It says I was driving a volvo v70 at in excess of 70 mph My car is a Peugeot 406 coupe,It also gave a registration number which is not mine. Any Ideas.

Ooooh that's interesting.
If I was ballsy I'd not mention it till I turned up at court and get the solicitor to announce it then and maybe that would get the case thrown out?
I'd be worried that if I mentioned it before they would scramble to find the right details and then carry on as usual.

But won't they have missed the 14 deadline for the NIP anyway? Although looking at some posts on here they'll probably say it was an admin error.......

Sounds like the check was a VASCAR or Police PILOT on a prefed check.
If you write to the administration of justice unit where the summons was sent from explaining that you have received a summons for a vehicle that you know nothing about, have never seen or driven and do not own, they may well rescind the summons.
Tell them that you were stopped at the time and place indicated on the summons but not in a Volvo car. Tell them you own a XXXXXX or whatever it was you were driving. You should not necessarily need to confirm the registration number of the car you were in. If the facts are wrong, then they will not proceed with the case.
The other way to deal with it is to plead not guilty and turn up at court with the summons. Speak to the duty prosecutor and show them the summons you have. Ask them to check the officers statement and see if the summons information is correct in relation to the evidence in the officers statement. If it is not, the prosecutor should drop the case by offering no evidence. If the statement shows that you were driving the proper car, tell the prosecutor that the information in the summons is wrong and you will plead not guilty and give evidence in the witness stand under oath.
They can correct typos but not complete errors.

I worked out a while back that even a tiny minor hand movement could lead to several metres of beam movement at that kind of distance. Did hew fire through a window, because that can cause the beam to split apart when going thorough the glass (especially a cureved one).
I'd plead not guilty. Even if they reckon the video is good, they've already buggered up the case by sending you completely inaccurate details. You may have been v. lucky.
