I guess this may vary from location to location, but I wondered on average (as well as maximums and minimums) what the thresholds tend to be on Gatso's/Truvelo's etc. for the various limits?

The ACPO guidelines are limit + 10% + 2mph.

But they ignore them now.

A magistrate neighbour of mine was gatso'd at 32 in a 30....dual carriageway, industrial area, no pedestrians.

Thanks, have to admit I thought the 10% + 2mph guidelines had long gone, but likewise I'd assumed that if you were doing (a speedo indicated) 75mph on a 70mph DC you wouldn't be snapped?

The ACPO guidelines only say in effect that you shouldn't warn for any speeds above 10%+2mph over the limit. They don't say you shouldn't prosecute until then at all.

They tell you to act at that point if you haven't already, not to wait until that point.

My personal opinion on using victim photographs without the consent of the victim's family ?

You shouldn't.

I wouldn't personally say that 'alone' is grounds for dismissal though.

Glad to hear that.

Not grounds for dismissal? If we're going to be consistent in this PC world, people have been dismissed for lesser things, so grounds it must be..

That aside, this is but one in a string of errors that justify his dismissal.

Was it recent and have you seen the NIP for this saying 32mph?

A while back Northhants was running a zero-tolerance policy, but they sh@t on their own doorstep too many times with the locals and instead turned to scamming the M1 for a while after that for their revenue.

We all need to know of any scammer partnerships that are not taking the ACPO guidelines into consideration.

I've driven towards a few of those 30 mph speed limit 'flashing your speed signs' and noticed my speedo was reading almost 8 mph higher so there's a calibration difference.

I recently goofed and went through a truvelo at almost 90 indicated but haven't had my brown envelope yet. I was guessing at 80 mph for a cut off point so I'm over the the limit. So hopefully my speedo's wrong or my failsafe will help me out. I'm kicking myself though as I know where these units are but haven't driven that road for a few years. Bright sunny day, put on my dark sunglasses and didn't see the high visibility camera until I was right on top of it and doing a smooth overtake. Guess I'll have to stop wearing the shades in future.

Boosted.
