Beware the Peoples Republic of Camden. Just received a fine for driving in the bus lane.... at 20:48 on a Saturday evening! At least they sent me some pretty pictures to frame. Red Ken hasn't got a thing on this lot.

A future in-law type relation works in the appeals section of Camden Councils parking/buslane-Nazi section.

You would be surprised how many he lets off the fine.

You would not be surprised how much abuse he gets at work.

Are there any other vehicles or pedestrians close (or possibly could have been close) to you in the piccy?

Apparently (usual disclaimers apply) an exuse that may work is that you only entered the bus lane to avoid an accident/collision. Alledgedly. But also check the signing to make sure it's correct first.

Cheers, Phil

the bus lane in Watford - there are many - are all buslanes 24hrs a day and are not open to general traffic at any time. I was pulled over about a year back when they first opened and informed of this by a v.helpful person, the warning served it's purpose and i've not used them since

Most are signposted with their times and a lot have different times to the standard 7-7.

There are even some bus lanes you just NEVER go in, a la M40 Bus Lane anyone?

Were you not pulling into the bus lane to allow other traffic to pass you while you fixed the flat tyre?

Whoa there woof bit savage, wouldn’t say having read the posts that anyone was having a pop at the fella, but if you get caught and have broken the rules then you have to bite the bullet, not saying that the rule in question is fair or even logical.

There is no consistency at all on London bus lane times. They might be 24 hours, 7am - 10am, or morning and evening, or 7am - 7pm, or even just 4-7pm. Aaarrgghh. You might spend so much time reading the bus line opening times you crash into the car in front. Doh.

Is it just a fine for bus lane violations, or points as well?

Great, yet more tax! Just so they can create loads of lanes for buses which always seem to be half full? Granted the fine is stupid and expensive, but, being a new driver its the risk of points that bothers me most!

It's the lack of consistency, the longer the hours the more lefty, communist, interfering and downright stupid and 'right on' the council. If I remember rightly I was in the buslane because (as per normal) there were no buses in it, in fact there was no other traffic on the road at all and I was in the furthest left hand lane before taking a left. Camden... funny place, hard time left-wing Champagne Socialist country but look on their website under housing and they'll politely inform you that you cannot afford to live there unless you are richer than God.
Thanks for the feedback!
