have been hearing on the local radio informing everyone (Warminster/Frome area) that the police are at present using a decoy vehicle to catch thiefs,what i'm confused about is why do they inform everyone? surely if a thief hears the decoy car is about he will simply just take a couple weeks 'off work' till it returns to normal?!

They don't know what it is or where it is likely to be or indeed what sort of trap it is going to have in it!

Most people who are involved in theft of or from vehicles do not read papers or watch the news . They are more concerned about where their next rock of crack comes from!

many of the people we target have been caught by decoy cars several times.
They do not learn, and are so desperate for drug money do not care.
Nor do the courts as they keep giving them bail!

Surely criminals think there are lots of decoys out there is almost as good as there actually being loads of decoys out there?

Opportunists do most of the damage, the organised car thieves will be targeted by other means.
