I think my last shred of respect for the police has now vanished.

Driving down the A38 Dual NSL in going to Plymouth. Copper in the inside lane doing 65mph. I start to overtake at 70. As I am alongside he starts to match my speed so i crank it up a little and i stop when i get to 80 (im not pushing my luck...) he then goes in front of me and CUTS ALMOST RIGHT INTO ME forcing me to clip the central reservation in order to avoid hitting the central reservation. What point are you trying to prove you stupid fkwit!!!

I pull back in shock and he then pulls back into the inside lane doing 65 again.

I dont know whether to report him because i dont want to be victimsed by Devon and Cornwalls finest. That was dangerous driving on his part. Is that an approved home office technique? I hope not!!!

RANT OVER!!!!!

Stupid needs a good it makes me at what they can get away with.

Didn't you follow him and have a word? Sounds like he was in front of you after this incident - what happened next?

Next time, try faking an overtake and cut inside him ... I've been watching too many car chase movies.

Unfortunatly it was no mistake. He did it on purpose to block me to stop me from passing him. Thats why im so pissed off. Had it of been a mistake I would have let it go!

Have to agree with this one. I actually feel that if i had 40 witnesses it would go no place. One rule for them another for us etc. CTS

Sorry, but am I missing something? You were speeding, and doing so very obviously. He chose to warn you rather than pull you over. Going by your descrption, I agree he could have done so more elegantly and with less risk to you and him.

Would you have preferred for him to allow you to complete the overtake and then hit you with 3 points and a fine?

An NSL road, passing a copper - any plod worth his salt would've just flashed his blues to warn you. There's no need for that kind of aggressive behaviour (unless you're not telling us the full story .......)

I'd report it ........

Are you serious! he was doing 80 mph, which is hardly a hanging offence, and overtaking which allows you an extra 10mph. I hardly think it's a copybook and recommended police tactic to drive cars at people to suggest they slow down.
Mind you if they are going to arm plod, he could just fire a warning shot through your chest the next time

Why did you feel a need to pass the Police vehicle at 80mph? The limit is 70mph and everyone knows that. If a Police vehicle appears to be travelling at near the liomit, then just accept it and stick with it until the Police vehicle has left the vicinity. They generally do not travel very far on motorways before pulling off. If you are so impatient that you cannot give a marked vehicle a bit of respect for 10 minutes, then expect some sort of reaction.

It is not a hanging offence, but it is taking the p1ss. I agree that he should not have pulled into your path like that but when there is a marked Police vehicle around, then stick to the limit and you will not draw unwanted attention of any kind.

Regardless of your thoughts and feelings about stupid unecessarilly low limits, the limit is 70mph and it is the job of the Police to enforce the law There are many ways of doing this as you have found out, even by breaking them to do so but as I have said before, the Police are in a unique position to be able to do this as long as it is not over the top. It is a 'perk' of the job and one of the only ones left.

I expect the Police driver has absolutely no regard for those that take the p1ss out of him so the feeling is probably mutual Soulpatch.

Everyone and many on this site continually spout about a general lack of respect for authority, discipline from kids in schools etc and this is why the country is in the mess it is with PC boll0cks taking over. If you think about it seriously, the act of your little piece of lack of respect is no different from telling your school teacher to "fcuk off".

I get p1ssed off when I am driving a marked vehicle at or near the limit and people sail past me either oblivious to the limit or the Police presence. They are either in need of serious remedial observation training or just plain ignorant.

I usually pull in front of such offenders and slow back down to the limit. If they do not take the hint, I stop them and ask them if they have children. Many cannot understand the reason for this question. I then explain to them that if they have children that know the rules you set for them within your household and they continually push those rules to the limit and beyond, how does it make them feel. The answer is usually angry and p1ssed off. Parents then deal with this breach of rules in many different ways. Some will explain the reasons why. Others will resort to a clip around the ear. Some that administer a clip around the ear will do so in a manner that is out of proportion to the breach of the rule.

In my view, Soulpatch, you met a Police officer that reacted in the latter way, he dealt with you with a metaphorical clip around the ear that was too hard for the circumstances. It will however make you think about passing another marked vehicle at 80mph in future!

My advice is when there is a marked presence around, behave yourselves until it is no longer present. Then the world is your oyster (subject to the unmarked ones, Laser ambushes on bridges and the spurious placement of plethoras of camera vans and gatso sites )

well think how bad it would look for said copper if he caused a crash while doing this sort of thing. Speeding or not, it sounds like a bad thing to do. I'd sooner get a ticket than have a smashup.
