hey, ive currently served a month of my 12 month ban for racing. DONT GET BANNED ITS HELL PPL......anyways ive just learned i gotta take my test again becuase i didnt send my provisional off with pass certificate before i went to court. The reason i didnt do this because i wanted it ready to hand into court becuase the case kept getting ajourned every month.

So on the day i got my ban the magistrate said specifically that i dont have to retake my test. Ill just get my licence back through the post 3 months prior to my ban is up.

Heres the problem. I passed my test in october of 2001 and by the time my ban is up in april 2004 my pass certificate will have expired. The DVLA say that your screwed basically........BUT ITS NOT RIGHT because my test certificate is still valid until october this year.

There must be something i can do, get a solictor or something because i refuse to take the easy answer from the dvla ...ohhhh your screwed cant help you.

Probably not what you want to hear, but my g/f had to retake her test over paperwork screwup by the DVLA. Her handbag was stolen along with her driving license, back when she lived in the land of scousers. She informed the DVLA who said they would have to give her a new driver number to prevent fraudulent use of the old licence, and also canceled her old licence. Anyway, when she moved in with me a few years ago, she sent her licence of to change the address, only to be told that it wasn't valid! Seems they had issued a new licence and promptly cancled it instead of the old one. After months of phone calls and letters getting nowhere, she finaly had to retake her test to get her licence back, and suffer higher premiums as a new driver.

As with most governmental organisations, they are staffed by cretins with the organisational abilities of a muppet.

Does sound like you'll have to bite the bucket and retake the test. It shouldn't be that hard, and you've got a year to study for the theory test.

Having a new license shouldn't make much difference, as i doubt you insurance could be any higher after a year ban if you tried.

Why was this? She was not a new driver and had passed her first test on the original date? She had held a licence for X years, not Y months.

I belive they asked her how long she had held her current license for.

She should have explained what happened, she is not a new driver. If you change your licence because you move this is not counted as a new licence.
