I know, I know, you can all sleep easy now another criminal is off Londons streets.

What i want to know is: Do insurance company's looks at points on your licence differently even if there the same amount?

Example, Is 3 points for speeding in a 30 looked at the same as 3 points for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

I mean i could appeal on the grounds that the police officer is a complete PR1CK but i dont think that's enough.

At the end of the day i wasn't sure if i needed them or not but i was hardly hurting anyone. I said to the officer that do you really think this is the best way to deal with this? Ill go and get them on my way home, now that i know i need to display them. He just kept giving me the line " you can appeal if you wish SIR "

Sorry, so can anyone say what about the insurance and points issue?

thanks

TBH i used to respect traffic police and thought that all the moans that iv read in the past were unjust but now i just think this guy has ruined my whole perception towards them. If i saw him on fire not only would i not piss on him but I would try and stop other people pissing on him too.

I HOPE YOU GET TO READ THIS YOU LOSER, JOB WELL DONE!

They're alright when they are prosecuting others those trafpol. They should just leave us honest law abiding folk alone.

You could, of course, pull your finger out and pass your test. No L-plates required, then.

L-plates tell other road users that your level of training is minimal, and allows them to incorporate that into their driving/riding plans.

3 points for not showing them is exactly fair.

SHUT UP!

How about telling me and then letting me go get them? Also if thats the case how comes 50cc scooters do not have to show L plates? If you have had your car licence for a few years(cant remember how many) you can ride a 50cc without plates! How is that telling other road users that you have limited experience?

I agree though that i should do my full licence but only past the CBT last month.

its not just the fact that L plates show their level of training.........anyone on a moped whether they have L plates or not should be considered a danger / dickhead on the road!!

You were breaking the law and you got caught, taking responsibility for your own actions may be a good idea to start off with, your reply to the above reflects your age sadly.

I used to have the same feeling as you about scooters but a 2 hour journey from the city to West London on my way home changed my mind.

Just drive the Porsche to work. Can't see why you'd take two wheels when you've got a tasty Porker to commute in.

Dave,

I agree that I should take responsibility for my actions. What i am trying to say is however, that you can drive your car with no seat belt and get a fine no points. You can drive a car with black plates and get a fine no points. So how can you receive points for not displaying L plates? Surely a reminder and if i was stupid enough to carry on using my scooter without plates then give me points!

My SHUT UP was in a friendly manner and it didn't mean to cause offence. just because i ride a scooter doesn't make me a teenager!

Also Dave, are you saying you never break the speed limit while in the UK and if you did do 35 in 30 you would totally understand why you deserve 3 points?

JFR, traffic the whole way from Bishopsgate,Embankement,Chelsea,A316! A normal day takes 1.5 hours to get home any time after 16.30. Scooter takes 30/40 minuts depending on traffic.

Oh dear.

You broke the first and only golden rule.

Thou shalt not get caught.

Three points and £60 will do nothing to your insurance premiums. You may even find they go down as the underwriter will no longer think you are trying to hide something - you Mr Goodie-Two-Shoes you.

Take it on the chin.

You aren't getting 3 points and £60 for driving without L plates.

You're getting 3 points and £60 for not reading the Highway Code. rofl

Just got three points meself. I deserved them too.

They were always cold in the 3 so opted for the quicker 125cc scooter!

You sods!!!!!!!!!!!

Only kidding

I was just hoping it doesnt read worse then it really is. I mean is an insurance company going to say what are your 3 points for? I say driving outside of my permitted licence. They say FU%k no chance of us insuring you on that car mate?

I think its laughable to get 3 points for this but will an insurance company?

3 points will come with a code - which the insurance company will ask for. They'll know what it was for, and "adjust" policy as they see fit, but TBH it probably won't be a big difference. However, if you've not got a bike license, I'm not sure what would happen if you got 3 more?

Sorry Bund but you broke the law, or is it one law for you and one law for everybody else...scratchchin

In my opinion people who misspace or alter number plates should also get three points, judge another group of people who seem to think the law does not apply to them for some reason.......

And don't even get me started on mobile phones when driving...........rage

Yes I do sometimes travel over the posted speed limit, but if I get nabbed I only have myself to blame, I don't winge about it.......

Sorry If it's not what you wanted to hear.............biggrin

If i had a bike licence would i not have to inform my CAR insurance company of bike related points each time it came for renewal or do all points go to one licence even if you hold both?
