Driving through Geneva, 2 lane road at 60kmh in 60kmh zone.
White car in front of me slows down to same speed as white van on his right.
Driver of car starts swerving around, quite close to van and shouting at guy in van! Seems they either know each other and having a laugh, or it's agression.
Then he pulls in front of van, so I overtake, max 80. Basically I want to get past what looks like a dangerous situation.

Guy in car then puts blue flashing light on top of car. I pull over. Very agressive ~22yo gendarme starts shouting "how fast were you going!?"
I say "not much more than 60".
He says "are you having a joke, more like 100".

+40 over limit here = 25% of net salary and 3 days in prison...

I said no way 100 but I thought there was an incident between the two drivers and I wanted to get past it.
He said "that's no excuse etc".

He takes my license/car docs and writes something, then gives them back to me.
No ticket, he says I'm going to receive it in the post.

I just phoned my legal assistance and tried to make a statement at my local police stn.

I will contest in court if I have to.

I like Switzerland, it's clean, got great mountains, lakes etc, close to other places that I like (Italy, South France). Many years ago I was offered a job there and nearly moved there.

Glad I didn't 'coz I probably would be broke and spending 3 months a year in prison by now.......... frown
