Driving up the A9 last night I was overtaking some traffic in the outside lane, rounded the corner to see the dreaded police-van on a bridge. It was parked up with a small (1 ft sq) black window open on the side, presumably for some kind of camera. There was no flash, but given there is a chance I was above the limit, am I likely to end up being prosecuted?
I'm not sure about the law with things like this in Scotland.

If the van was unmarked, then you should be ok, as it was probably just an ANPR van for tax/insurance dodgers.
If you were speeding and it was not ANPR, then it may depend if they were watching and how much over the limit you were.
Just wait 14 days to find out if nasty letter arrives in the post, if you are the registered keeper.

ANPR vans are usually accompanied (or nearby) by several BiB cars/motorcycles - Streaky

The ones in Scotland dont seem to be for some reason, i passed one of their regular spots on my way to my old work and it was just their van with the tripod sitting outside it ontop of a motorway bridge. Clearly if mr E4UAN gets done it must have been a momentary lapse as he religiously sticks to the speed limits at all times and never speeds at all, ever yeswink
