OK, they have started calmping cars at work for failing to park in the designated areas, fair enough, but they are getting a bit over enthusiastic, and I wondered what the minimum is to be able to clamp you.

I thought it was, obvious warning notice about clamping, and contact info for the clamper (in this case the company).
Do they also need a license (it's a private car park)?

Any knowledgeable individuals wishing to contribute, or links to stuff on the 'net much appreciated.

They did that at a place where I worked last year.

The bloke placed a sign in his car stating:-

"This is a Clamping Test Vehicle, by placing a clamp on this vehicle you are agreeing to it either (a) Being removed using any means required or (b) Paying £500 for the use of said vehicle to place your clamping equipment on"

The company placed a clamp on the vehicle and he cut it off, they tried to charge him for it and he produced the sign, the legal bods at said place agreed that his worded note had the same legality as there sign so waived all costs / charges.

They then banned him from using their land to park on though, and he now has to pay in NCP. Winner?

There must be signs stating T&C's of Parking - e.g: Private Parking - Unauthorised vehicles etc will be wheelclamped and a fee of £XXX will be charged prior to the removal of the clamp.
The sign(s) should be clearly visable as you enter the carpark and at strategic points around the carpark.

There should also be a contact number on the sign for the clamping company, along with their company name.

At present they do not need to be licensed.

Great... although was this in a private car park or on concil property?

Also what would have happend if he did park there again? would they have clamped him?
